Poker is a game of chance that can be played with one or more players. It involves a set of cards, which can be placed face down or face up, and a betting round. Poker chips are usually black or red. Chips are usually made from plastic or ceramic. Before playing, the dealer assigns a value to each chip. The values are based on the stakes of the game. These chips are then used as play money at the table.

When a player wins the pot, he or she takes the entire amount of the pot. Unlike in straight and draw, a showdown occurs when more than one player remains in contention.
A showdown happens when the player with the highest hand wins the pot. If the showdown ends in a tie, the two hands will divide the winnings equally.
